Mr.BB receives perquisite as a company car. But Mr.AA did not. This despite the fact that Mr.AA's work was commended countless times, that he often worked unpaid overtime, and that he never missed a day of work during the ten years between 1988 and 1998. この様な文がありました。意味は BBさんは社用車のような役員特典を受けています。 しかしAAさんには与えられませんでした。 AAさんの業務は何度も誉められ、また彼は何度も無賃金残業をし、1988から1998の間 一日足りとも休まず働いた、という事実にも拘わらずです。 となると思います。 この時 Thisをどの様に訳したらいいのか分かりません。 Thisの有る無しでは本文訳に大した違いは出て来ないと思いますが、どうしても気になります。 また何故Thisが付いているのか、必要なのかという事です。 教えて下さい。宜しくお願いします。

時制の問題をしていてわからないところがあったので教えていただけるとうれしいです。 問題は、 Please let me know if you ( ) the parcel by tomorrow. a. won't receive b. didn't receive c. haven't received d. won't have received です。 自分はまず、ｉｆ節はｋｎｏｗの目的語になっているので名詞節であるから、「未来のことは未来時制」で、 「明日までに」ということで受け取るのは未来のことだから未来完了かな？と思い、『ｄ』を選びましたが、答えは『ｃ』でした。 なぜ答えが『ｃ』なのか全然わからないので、教えていただけるとうれしいです。

こんにちは。仮定法を勉強していますが、どうしても分からないところがあります。 どなたか、教えていただけるとありがたいです。 (1) If I were you, I would call him. (もし、私が君なら、私は彼に電話するだろう) (2) I would fly to them if I were a bird. (もし、私が鳥なら、彼らのところに飛んでいくだろう) なぜ、(2)はIfのカタマリの位置が逆にるのでしょうか？ どちらも、同じ内容の意味に見えます。 分かりやすく理解するにはどのように解釈したらよいでしょうか。 宜しくお願いいたします。

- 仮定法過去？仮定法過去完了？
問題集に「火星が過去において、今よりも温暖であったなら、この氷の多くが液体であったかも知れない」の英訳の解答として、"If Mars was warmer in the past, lots of this ice may have been liquid."とありました。自分としては前半を仮定法過去完了、つまり"If Mars had been warmer in the past..."とすべきだと思うのですが、どうして前者が解答とされるのでしょうか。
