しばらくFacebookにアクセスしてなかったり、自分の友達のページを見ていなかったりしていませんでしたか？ Facebookの利用者がどのぐらいの頻度でアクセスしているか、また自分の友達として登録している人のページをどのぐらいの頻度で見ているかなど細かなデータが取られています。それを元によけいなお世話なのですが、Facebookから今こういうイベントがあるよとか、友達がこういう状態だよというのをメールでお知らせしてきます。 質問者様に来た英文は 「Facebookにサインイン（Facebookにアクセスすると同じ意味）すれば、友達の最新の状態がわかったり、写真やビデオを見たり、メッセージを交換するなど他にも色々楽しめますよ」という意味で、だからアクセスしてねというメッセージが後ろに隠されています。 ”Join(相手の名前）on facebook"はFacebook上で写真を見たり、相手にメッセージを書いたり、ビデオチャットをするなど相手と交流しましょうという意味です。強制的に相手のページに飛ばせるのではありません。あくまでこういうのがありますよというお知らせですから、興味があればご自分のページから友達のページに行けばいいし、興味がなければそのままアクションを取らなければよろしいのです。

大変わかりやすいご回答、ありがとうございます。 ということは、相手が私に対して何らかのアクションをおこしてメールが送られてきたわけではない、ということでしょうか？ だとすると非常に不思議なのですが、相手は2年ほど前にOutlookでメールのやり取りがあった人で、最近は一切音信不通で、私は相手のフェイスブックにアクセスしたことは一度もありません。 フェイスブックが私のPCのメールソフトのアドレス帳を勝手に調べて、知り合いのフェイスブックの紹介メールを勝手に送ってきたということでしょうか？ まさかそんなことはないですよね・・・
