ベルイマン野いちご英語字幕でDaddyの意味
ベルイマン『野いちご』を英語字幕で見ています。 ヒッチハイクに成功した少女サラが、自分とボーイフレンドたちの関係を紹介しているところです。 ２か所ほどDaddyと単語が出てきますが、Isakのことでもないし、 いったい誰・何を指すのでしょうか。 359 00:32:55,310 --> 00:32:57,676 Viktor's the cheaper one. ＃１です。補足です。 ＞＞実父と訳しても前後の意味が通らず、なにか特殊なイディオムなのかと調べてもありません。英訳が正しいかはわかりませんが、字幕になっているからには意味の通る英語字幕をつくっていると期待します。 今問題のところを見て見ました。おっしゃるとおり Daddy が出てくるのは、ここ二箇所だけのようですね。 お役に立てず申し訳ありません。

だいぶ昔に見た映画なので、「針のない時計」ぐらいしか覚えていませんが、サラはただのヒッチハイカーです。仮に英訳が正しいとすれば Isak とサラとは無縁ですから、Daddy というのは、サラの実父のことでしょう。

文法書の仮定法現在を説明するための例文「A book may be compared to your neighbor. It be good,it cannot last too long;if bad,you cannot get rid of it too early.」（書物は隣人にたとえられる。よいものなら長続きしてもよいし、悪いものなら早く縁を切っても早すぎることはない）。 Q:「it cannot last too long」のなかで「not」が何故使用されているか分かりません。私には「it cannot last too long」の意味は「よいものなら長続きするはずがない」と逆の意味にとれるのですが、ここでは反語として使われているのでしょうか？教えてください。
