B：What's that? このような場合はWhat's that?の方がよいの でしょうか。（Tokyo Sky Treeをitで受けて What is it?というと少しおかしくなりますか） どのようなときにWhat is it?またはWhat's that? なのかがいまいちよくわかりません。 どのように使い分ければよいのでしょうか。 また、What's that?のようにWhat's it?とも 言えるのでしょうか。What is it?の方がよく 使いますか？ よろしくお願いします。

はじめましてこんにちは じつは You may well ask what the point of being educated at university is. という文章で訳は 「あなたが大学で教育を受ける目的は何かと尋ねるのは当然である」 という文章なんですが 確かにそう訳せるといえばそう訳せますがしかし What S is 現在のS というような構文がありますし またWhatを関係詞として「大学で教育を受けるということをたずねるのは当然である」とも訳せそうな気もします つまりいいたいのは、何ゆえWhat のニュアンスが、訳で出るのか知りたいのです。 もし「なに」というのが入るなら You may well ask what is the point of being educated at university .とすべきと思うのですが・・・ よき回答をお待ちしてます
