a か an かはスペルじゃなく発音で決まります。 an hour となるのは、h を発音しないから。 union とか、university は「ユ」という発音、 発音記号だと ju となり、母音で始まらない （j は半母音とは言われます）ので、 a です。 uncle は「ア」だから an uncle です。 an SF writer SF は esef と母音で始まるので an です。 とにかく、読んでみたらわかります。 an apple は アン アップル じゃなく、 アナポー このアナ～とつながるのが an です。

turn a deaf ear to～（聞こえない耳を～に対して向ける）や、 in a fluent English（流暢な英語で）などで使われているａは、形容詞の次にある名詞にかかっているんですか？もしそうだとしたら母音なのでａｎなのではないんですか？とても疑問に思っているので、どなたか教えてください。
