くだらない質問ではございますがお願いいたします。 The Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey is an American multi-mission, military, tiltrotor aircraft with both a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), and short takeoff and landing (STOL) capability. 上記、オスプレイに関する記述です。 aircraft with both a vertical takeoff and landing 意味としては、垂直での離着陸が可能な飛行機って事かと思いますが、 "both"と" a"が並べて使われる文って初めて見ました。 両方の・・・ひとつの・・・ よく分かりません。 だいたい冠詞のa は a pen とか名詞につくという知識しか ないですが、takeoff やlanding なんて冠詞つくものでしょうか。

VTOLとSTOLがbothなんじゃないでしょうか。aはcapabilityにかかるみたいだけど、本当に文法的に正しいかどうかはわかりません。
