This book gave me some ideas as to what life in Canada is like.

これが「~what is life in Canada like」の語順になりますと、疑問形になりますが… 。 この「life in Canada」=「it」と直しちゃえば、わかりやすいでしょう。

This book gave me some ideas as to what life in Canada is like. as to ~ 「~について」 What is ~ like? 例: What's Tom like? I don't know + What did he say? ↓ I don't know what he said.

This book gave me some ideas as to what life like is in Canada. 。 likeは(..
