大変失礼ですが、下記の訳文は少々違っています。 「Johnは、自己の発見と発展の過程において音楽の練習に励んでいるミュージシャン達、また、その他の人達の手助けをしようと決心した」のではなく、 「Johnは、ミュージシャン達が自己の発見と発展の過程において、また他人の助けになる上で、音楽の実践を用いる（自分達の演奏を用いる）ように、手助けをしようと決心した」のです。 practice には、練習の他に、実践という意味もあり、この場合は後者だと思います。 use A in B という場合は、AをBに用いる という意味になります。 ですから、John is decided to help A use B in C. という文では、JohnはAがBをCに用いるのを手助けする決心をした。になります。 おわかりでしょうか？ 失礼があったら、ごめんなさい。
