英語の仮定法の問題です。
英語の仮定法の問題です。 A better bridge could have been built ( ). (1)if they didn't assist us (2)had it been not for their help (3)having had them help us (4)had they offered assistance 答え:(4) 文法書にはif＋S（主語）＋動詞の過去形,(略） と書かれているので、didn'tもありじゃないかと思うんです。が、基本的に(本問でいうとdidのような)一般動詞を使うよりもhadやwereを使っているのしかみたことが無いんですが。 質問です。 ・条件節に一般動詞の過去形を使う場合もあるんでしょうか？ ・この(1)は何故間違いなのでしょうか？ 拙い文章ですみません。誤字・脱字はご勘弁ください。

仮定法過去：「（今）～ならば、～する（できる）のに」 If 主語＋過去, 主語 would/could 原形 仮定法過去完了：「（過去に）～だったならば、～した（できた）だろうに」 If 主語＋ had 過去分詞, 主語 would/could have 過去分詞 この違いが基本的にあります。 もちろん、過去形として一般動詞も可能です。 If I had enough money, I could buy the car. ただ、過去形を使うのは「今～ならば」の場合で、後は would/could 原形です。 今回のように could have been の場合は、 if 主語 had 過去分詞という仮定法過去完了のパターンです。 (1) は仮定法過去のパターンでよくありません。 実際の英語では、これも用いられますが、意味が合いません。 「もし、彼らが私たちを助けてくれなかったら、もっとよい橋が建てられただろうに」 皮肉とか、余計なお世話というのならあり得ますが。

・条件節に一般動詞の過去形を使う場合もあるんでしょうか？ このような仮定法では、スタンダードではありません。米では許容されます。 ・この(1)は何故間違いなのでしょうか？ スタンダードではないからでしょう。それと、４があれば、明らかに４が正解で、１よりベター。

英語の仮定法について質問です。 過去のことについて仮定法で話すときは、 If ＋主語＋had p.p. ,主語＋助動詞の過去形＋have p.p.という形になると勉強しました。 しかし、参考書や問題集で、 If＋主語＋had p.p.,主語＋would＋be＋～の形を見ます。主節はwould have p.p.の形にならないのはなぜですか？ 例 If I had planned a bit better, everything would be fine. (主節はeverything would have been fine.じゃないの？？)

“The ball was thrown to Jim and he bobbled it. If it were me [to whom it had been thrown], I would have caught it easily.” In most cases, it should be “If it were I.” という英語による文法の説明がありました。しかしこれは時制上、”If it had been me, I would have caught it easily.”となるべきではないのでしょうか？ 同じように、”He didn’t collide with me. He could have caused me and himself serious harm if he crashed into me.”と言うネイティブがいるのですが、これも” He didn’t collide with me. He could have caused me and himself serious harm if he had crashed into me.” と言うべきところではありませんか？ 大過去の形をとるべきであろうと理解される部分の時制を、過去形で表現しているネイティブの言語専門家による仮定法の文例を散見し、混乱しています。 どのようなことが理由か教えて頂ければ幸いです。よろしくお願いいたします。

1. I wouldn't if I were you. wouldn't の後に動詞がなくてもいいのですか？ 2. Mike would have helped if asked. asked の前後に助動詞や動詞は必要無いですか？ 3. Had he found you, you'd probably be dead. ３つとも、意味がわかりません。 よろしくお願いします。
