英英辞典からの質問です。 verdict =an official decision made in a court of law,especially about whether someone is guilty of a crime or how a death happened 法廷で作られた公の決め事、特に、誰が犯罪に対して有罪であるか無罪であるかについて、またはどうやって死亡事故が起きたかについて。 どうやって死亡事故がおきたか、と法廷の決め事に関係性があるんですか？よくわかりません。

- 英英辞典で学んだ英単語を思い出す方法
なるべく日本語を介さないで英語を理解したいと思い、英単語の意味を調べるときは主に英英辞書を利用しています。会話などの中で、英英辞典で学んだ単語を使いたいとき、「たしかどこかでああいう意味の単語があったな」とは思い出すのですが、それを調べる方法がなくて困っています。 例えば、vandalismの場合、私の持っている辞書では 「the crime of deliverately damaging things,especially public property.」となっています。英和辞典では、「芸術品・公共物などの意図的破壊、非文化的蛮行」です。仮に、vandalismという単語を忘れてしまって、それを思い出したいとき、「破壊」とか「破損」で和英辞典を調べても、私の辞書ではvandalismがでてきません。こんなとき、例えば、「crime、damage、public」などのキーワードを打てば、そこから連想される単語が出てくる辞書があったらいいなあなんて思います。もしかしてそんな都合のいい辞書やサイトがあるのでしょうか？また、他に何かいい案があれば教えてください。

The munber of old Mr and Mrs Grey by a young burglar was a rather unpleasant case. Althongh blood matching that of the old woman had been found on the burglar's clothing, the jury could not decide on the first day of discussion and spent a night in a hotel before finding the defendant guilty the next day. Judge Thomas felt they had made the right decision and was happy to close the case. Then a letter arrived on his desk from one of the jurors. "Dear Judge Thomas,I thought you should know how we made our decision. When we were all having dinner at the hotel one of the jurors suggested we try to find out what happended by using a crystal ball to contact the murder victims. I did't like the idea but most people thought it would be a good joke. Anyway,we all sat around the table looking into the ball and calling for Mr and Mrs Grey. Suddenly it went very dark and an old man's voice whispered 'It was that young burglar who killed us. You've got to find him guilty tomorrow!' When some of the jurors head this they were very frightened,especially the woman. It was longer a joke. I really don't know wheather I believe what I heard. Anyway we all agreed on a verdict of guilty the next day." This letter worried Judge Thomas. In general juries are free to decide their verdint in secret,and even the judge has no right to question them. However this event took place at the hotel at night when they were supposed to be resting,not discussing the case. It seemed to have influenced many of the jurors and it could mean their decision was unreliable. Should he interfere?
