この英文を和訳して頂けますか？
imagine having the confidence of everybody around you for what it is you are about to do. 「a thousand paths to confidence」という本の一節ですが、what 以下が うまく訳せません。what you are about to do.であれば「あなたがしようとしていること」になると思うのですが、 間にある「it is」が何を指すのか、どう訳したらいいのかが今ひとつ理解できないのです。よろしくお願いします。

「 あなたがしようとしていることがいったい何であるかについてあなたが周囲のみなさんの信頼を得ていると想像してみなさい。 」じゃないでしょうか。 文法に強調構文( It is --- that S+V ：ＳがＶするのはまさに---だ。)というのがありますよね。 "It is this book that I want" (私が欲しいのはまさにこの本だ。) 疑問文では "What is it that you want?" (君が欲しいのは一体、まさに何ですか。) それで What is it (that) you are about to do? (君がしようとしていることは一体何ですか。) 間接疑問文で肯定順になり what it is you are about to do. となっているのだと思います。

文法的な説明はようしませんが、 what it is you are about to do 「あなたがしようとしていることが何であるか」 ということではないでしょうか。 it is の有無による違いは、下の2つの例文の違いだと思います。 What is it you are about to do? あなたがしようとしていることって何なの？ What are you about to do？ 何をしようとしているの？

for what it is はあるがままに(の)というような意味になると思います。 ex)I like you for who you are. みたいに(＾o＾) for what it is は直前のeverybody around youにかかってます☆

In school, if you do not do (good) in an examination, you do not say it is because you didn't prepare enough for it but instead blame it on the teacher who set difficult questions on the exam. If you cannot make it in a job interview, you blame it on the interviewer or the employment system. You can, however, be one who (make) no excuses. Making excuses just stops you from improving or working harder. Instead, admitting that others are better than you can be a (positively) experience because you can use it as your motivation to become even better than them.
