    英語やり直し組です "It shows that the Ethiopians are desperate," said Abdi. "It means they cannot manage the situation. The regime in Addis Ababa thinks that Somalis will be subdued by their military machine. I assure you it will never happen. We have freedom fighters who are fighting the occupation of the Ethiopians. Ethiopians will be the ones, who will be compelled to retreat and withdraw." (1)最後のwhoについて教えてください この記事は勿論、この関係の記事を見るのは今日が初めてなので状況はよくわからないのですが、最初に見たときwhoはエチオピア人に見えました。しかし文の流れから「エチオピア人は一つになるだろう、○○は撤退させられるだろう」という意味から最後のwhoはThe regime in Addis Ababa?のことのように見えます。 このようにwho=直前の人物 ではなく今までの出てきた人物なら別に誰でもいいのでしょうか? お願いします。

    The scientists used powerful mathematical algorithms to find the smallest subset of these SNPs that could be used to predict eye colour accurately and found six that predicted blue and brown eye colour with just over 90% accuracy. The team report their work in Current Biology. The accuracy of the test was lower — just over 70% — for eyes of other colours. Most people have brown or blue eyes, with blue the dominant colour for those with roots in Northern Europe but brown predominating among those with ancestors from Southern Europe or from elsewhere in the world. So far, the test has been shown to be accurate only for Dutch people of European ancestry. Further work would be needed before the test could be used in other countries. The best predictive tests to date have only had an accuracy of around 80%, Kayser says. "That's not bad but it is not accurate enough for forensics," he says. The Netherlands Forensic Institute plans to use the new method in forensic case work within a year. Dutch laws allow use of DNA to predict eye colour. But Kayser notes that many countries would have to change their legislation to allow the test to be used in forensic applications. Forensic geneticist Peter de Knijff, of the Netherland's Leiden University Medical Center, says that the results will spur the race to develop more reliable genetic tests for hair and skin colour. "Those three — eye colour, hair colour, skin colour — combined with a rather accurate global test for the inference of the geographical origin of an individual will probably be built into a general package that you could use to get information about an unknown suspect," he says. The method could, in theory, also be used to predict the eye colour of a fetus — fuelling fears about 'designer' babies. "That would have different ethical and legal implications," Kayser stresses. よろしくお願いします^^;

    1.The certification will declare that the quality system conforms to the requirement of Regulation. The certification can't make a declaration against a conformity assessment standard such as ISO 13485, if it had been used, for example. The manufacturer may then prepare a declaration of conformity. 2.Certification against the Annex of the MDD may be used in support of the certification required by the AZ conformity assessment procedures. 特に、両文においての特に、againstの訳し方に苦慮しています。 宜しくお願いします。

    The success of the attack led to a set of the orders and instructions being sent to the US Command and Staff College to serve as models. The organisation of artillery was revised according to a War Office pamphlet of January 1917, "Artillery Notes No.4–Artillery in Offensive Operations", which put the artillery of each corps under one commander, established a Counter Bombardment Staff Officer, provided for the artillery of several divisions to be co-ordinated and laid down that artillery matters were to be considered from the beginning when planning an attack. The uses of equipment were standardised, the 18-pounder field gun was to be mainly used for barrages, bombardment of German infantry in the open, obstructing communications close to the front line, wire cutting, destroying breastworks and preventing the repair of defences, using high explosive (H. E.), Shrapnel shell and the new smoke shells.

    The term crusade is derived from a Middle Latin cruxata, cruciata. The adjective cruciatus had been used in the sense of "marked with a cross" from the 12th century; cruciatus (also cruxatus, croxatus, crucesignatus) was used of crusaders by the mid 13th century, from their practice of attaching a cloth cross symbol to their clothing. Use of cruxata (cruciata) for "crusade, military expedition against enemies of the church" is in use by the 1280s. The French form croisade and Spanish cruzada are recorded by the 16th century. The French form of the word first appears in its historiographical sense in the 17th century[3] and it was adopted into English and German in the 18th century. The Crusades in the Holy Land are traditionally counted as nine distinct campaigns, numbered from the First Crusade of 1095–99 to the Ninth Crusade of 1271/2. This convention is used by Charles Mills in his History of the Crusades for the Recovery and Possession of the Holy Land (1820), and is often retained for convenience, even though it is somewhat arbitrary: The Fifth and Sixth Crusades led by Frederick II may be considered a single campaign, as can the Eight Crusade and Ninth Crusade led by Louis IX.

    Biofuelswatch, an environment group in Britain, now says that “biofuels should not automatically be classed as renewable energy.” It supports a moratorium on subsidies until more research is done to define which biofuals are truly good for the planet. Beyond that, the group suggests that all emissions rising from the production of a biofuel be counted as emissions in the country where the fuel is actually used, providing a clearer accounting of environmental costs. The demand for palm oil in Europe has skyrocketed in the past two decades, first for use in food and cosmetics, and more recently for biofuels. This versatile and cheap oil is used in about 10 percent of supermarket products, from chocolate to toothpaste, accounting for 21 percent of the global market for edible oils. Palm oil produces the most energy of all vegetable oils for each unit of volume when burned. In much of Europe it is used as a substitute for diesel fuel, though in the Netherlands, the government has encouraged its use for electricity.
