＞それともit portraysのitもit could help make Microsoft’s caseのitもGoogleのことでしょうか。 私は、そのように解釈しました。 少し意訳的に訳すと、次のようなことを言っていると思います。 もしGoogle社の主張によって「MSとYahooの協定はGoogleの市場支配を侵犯するものだ」と言っているような印象を与えてしまうと、その分、MS社の「Yahoo買収によって、より競争的な市場が実現される」という主張に(Google社の主張が）手を貸す結果になってしまう。

(自身はいまいちありませんが）私は自然に下記のように考えました。 これは２つの独立文を and でつなげていて 最初の文が Google dominates the.... advertising ２つめの文が to the extend (that).... it could help ... marketplace. なので it は最初の文で述べられた内容全体 = Google の dominance をさすと私は普通に考えます。辞書にも it は物や人だけでなくすでに述べられた状況をさすことが出来ると書いていますのでそう考えます。 The current situation is that Google dominates the market.と言い換えて見れは it = the current situation になるとおもいます。 解りにくければ and でつなげるのではなくピリオドをつけて２つの文にすればよいわけです。 it より that のほうがよい気もしますが。 case that... で「....という主張」だとおもいます。
