The effort which the formation, and the perusal of this letter must occasion, should have been spared, had not my character required it to be written and read. The effort must occasion, should have been sparedとなると思うのですが、must occasionの意味が解らないので教えてくださいませ。

The effort which the formation and the perusal of this letter must occasion should have been spared が述語で 「しないですんだであろう」 had not 以下は, if my character had not require it to be written and read という if 節の if が省略されて,倒置になったものです。

Labor is the human effort required to design and build a system. No amount of money can compensate for the lack of trained labor. Given a labor constraint, a designer must decide which parts of the design need the most work, and which can be ignored. Unfortunately, the labor constraint is one of the least understood and ignored constraints on engineering design.

  • will be taking/ will have been taking/ must takeどれが正しいか?

"Jane won't be able to attend the party tonight? Why not?" "She says her son's caught a cold and she ( ) care of him." (1) must be taking (2) must have taken (3) will be taking (4) will have been taking

Two weeks ago I attended a holiday party with my boyfriend and his family. We’ve been together for three years, and since we moved to his hometown, I’ve gotten to know his parents and sisters better. I forgot about new medication I was taking, had a few drinks, and became drunker than I have ever been in my life. (Counting this event, I’ve only been drunk three times, so it’s extremely out of character for me.) I now know that I did something so horrible at the party that my boyfriend broke up with me via text and told me he has no interest in speaking to me ever again. I’m devastated. My now ex-boyfriend is the sweetest man I know, so I had to have done something cruel for him to do this. I had to have done something cruel for him to do thisの訳を教えてください。

"Jane won't be able to attend the party tonight? Why not?" "She says her son's caught a cold and she (must be taking/ must have taken/ will be taking/ will have been taking) care of him." "She says her son's caught a cold and she will have to take care of him." "... and she must take care of him." ...she must take care of him.
