書き換えの添削お願いします。

この言い換え（書き換え）はあっていると思います。 どちらの文章が自然かという「余計な話」になりますと、上の文章の方が自然です。普通、受身（受動態）の文章は、動作の主体である「だれかによって（by）」が必要とされますが、まったく必要でない場合もありますよね。受動態が使われるのは、この動作主を言う必要がない場合に便利だからです。 質問者の例文ですと、街灯は、夕刻に点灯される、と言う意味ですが、これは誰が点灯するかなどは問題ではないはずです。したがって受身がいいのです。むしろ「They switch...」と言う文章はおかしいと言えます。何も漠然とした主体を言う必要がないからです。 たとえば次のような文章が、その代表的な例です。 A lot of people are killed in car accidents every year.毎年、多くの人が交通事故で死んでいる。 There were many cars illegally parked. 違法駐車の車がたくさんあった。 The baseball game was rained out last night. 昨夜の野球の試合は雨で流れてしまった。 以上のような受動態に関する知識は、英語の幅を広げるのに役立つと思います。

基本的に上の２つはどちらも正しいといえます。 しかし、 夕方に点灯されるを英語訳しなさいといわれたときは、したのものよりも上のもののほうが正しいとされます。 なぜなら動作主体が不明瞭だからです。 不明瞭な主体は書かないほうがいいです。
