asの意味
はじめまして。asの意味について教えてください。 以下はCNNに載ったクルスク沈没事故の記事の一部です。 The Kursk's commanders and most of the crew in the front compartments were killed as two blasts 135 seconds apart sent the mighty submarine to the bottom of the Barents Sea この場合の「as」ですが、asより後(two blasts 135 seconds ～the Barents Sea)がきっかけとなって、asより前の現象(The Kursk's commanders ～ were killed)が起きたと考えていいものなんでしょうか？SPACE ALCの英辞郎で調べる限りはasにはそのようなニュアンスのものがなさそうなんですが....すみませんが、よろしくお願いします。

as 接続詞として、「…している時, …したとたんに; …しながら」の意味があります。 whenよりも同時性が強くて、whileと同様に用いられます。 口語ではwhen, whileを用いる方が多いのですが、文章では使われることが間々あります。 詳しくは英辞朗とかではなくて、ちゃんとした辞書を引くと必ず載っていると思います。

The injuries were such as might very well have been inflicted by the butt-end of his son's gun. という文章ですが、The injuries were such as /might very well have been （傷は前文のような状態だったので・・・）と訳したいのですが、such asだけを単独で使用した事例をあまり見た記憶がないので自信がありません。教えてください。

例を挙げると、英辞郎に、 As is often the case with victims, she doesn't want .... 被害者にはよくあることだが... As was pointed out at the time, he was no longer .... すでに指摘されたように... などの例文がありますが、 この最初の "as is(was)" を文法的にどう解釈するのか分かりません。 as が 主語なのでしょうか？ それとも何らかの主語が省略された表現なのでしょうか？ 英検3級止まりの英語力でも分かるように説明していただけたら助かります。 よろしくお願いします。

ロシアのテロに関しての英文で、 The near-simultaneous crash of two airplanes last week, in which 90 people died, was blamed on Chechen suicide bombers as was an explosion by a Moscow metro station which killed nine. as以降が良くわかりません。そもそもasの後にすぐ動詞がくるとどうなるのでしょうか？私のこの文の解釈は「先週のほぼ同時に起こった２機の旅客機の墜落事故、９０人死亡、はチェチェンの自爆テロリストが行ったとされる。asモスクワの地下鉄の駅の爆発、９人死亡。」？？？？ ん？ どなたか、このasの意図するところを教えてください。
