手紙に書く一文ですが、これでいいでしょうか？
昔のホストファミリーに手紙を書こうとしています。 「今回のＮＹの事件にご家族や友人が巻き込まれていないと良いのですが」を 「I hope your family and friends were not involved in this incident in NY.」としてみましたが、 単語・時制など間違っていませんでしょうか？ また、同じような意味で良い文例がありましたら是非教えてください。 よろしくお願いします。

あなたが、以前にお世話になったというホストファミリーあてのお手紙ですから、あなたがこの文章を送っても、相手はあなたの（伝えたい）お気持ちを誤解することはないでしょう。 ところが、そういう前提なしにこの英文を読みますと、次のような訳になります。 「ニューヨークでの今回と事件に、あなたの家族や友人が関与していないこと（犯人でないこと）を望みます。」 となると、あなたのお気持ちとは、まったく反対の意味になるでしょ。 そこで、次のような表現をお勧めします。 “I hope that none of your family and friends has suffered from the horrible tragedy in N.Y.” 事件の重大さと悲惨さを考えると、”incident”では軽すぎると思います。 以上、ご参考になれば幸いです。

「あのとき君の忠告にしたがっていたら、今こんなに苦しんでいなかったのに」という文を英作します。 まず、英作をするとき仮定法なのか直接法なのかを判断。 過ぎ去った過去について起こってない話→現実ではない話→仮定法 よってまず、仮定法を考える時は主節の形からそれよりも前なのか同じなのかにより従属節内の形が決まるのでまずは主節の時制を考える。 まず、主節は現在なので主節の仮定法は時制を１つずらすことにより表現するので Ｉ shall not be suffering like this now ↓ I should not be suffering like this now さらに副詞節は苦しんでいるだろうという時制よりもまえなので 仮定法過去完了。よって、If I had followed your advice then となります。よって If I had followed your advice then、I should not be suffering like this nowとなると考えたんですがＩ shall not be suffering like this nowの部分がshould でも直接法で考えるとあり得るため、 時制をずらすとどうなってしまうのか疑問です。 後、間違っていると思う点がありましたら、教えて下さい
