何故か？と、英文みてください
何時に行ったらいい？ what time should go to see you? これを What time should come to see you? に、直されました。 なんでcomeになるんですか！？ ................................................ 英文チェックしてください 1時にそっちにつけばいいということ？ You mean the I right there at 1 o' clock? 今から１時間後？ One hour later from now? お願いします

英語の“go”と“come”は、日本語の「行く」「来る」と少し意味が違います。 日本語では、話し手が物理的にいる場所を基準に、そこを離れていくのが「行く」、そこに近づくのが「来る」ですよね。 英語の場合は、話し手の意識のある場所を基準に、そこを離れていくのが“go”、そこに近づくのが“come”になります。 別の言葉で言えば、（その人がいなくなる）出発地をイメージしているときは“go”、目的地（に着いたときのこと）をイメージしているときは“come”です。 ご質問の文章だと「目的地に着いた後あなたと会うこと」がメインテーマですから、“come”の方が適切なのです。 1時にそっちにつけばいいということ？ Do you mean that I should be there at one o'clock? So I have to be there at one o'clock, right? 今から１時間後？ In one hour from now? 単にOne hour from now?でも良いと思います。

westlifeさん、こんにちは！ ちょっと違う視点から。 What time should I come to see you. と同じ意味で、 What time should I come and see you. も使われますね。私はこっちを言いますね。 You mean, I should be there at one? 口語ならo'clockを省略すますね。 An hour from now? Oneと言うよりAnの方が自然かと。 ご参考まで。

こんにちは。 皆さんが答えてくださっているので充分だとは思うのですが・・ (1)「何時に行ったらいい？」＝「何時に（そちらに）着いたらいい？」 両方とも同じ意味ですよね？「到着する」と言うには "go" は使いませんよね？"arrive" なんかが使えます。では、 (2)「何時に家を出ればいい？」 でしたら、家を出る（離れる）わけですから、"go" や "leave" が使えますよね。 (1)の "arrive（到着）" と同じ意味の動詞で "come in" というのがあります。"come in" は "go out" の対義語です。「そちらに行く」というのは、「そちらに到着する」と同じ事です。ですから "come" になるのです。 「go to office (会社に行く)」というのは、会社に着いたのではなく、 「leave my house to office（会社に行くために家を出る）」と同じことです。 ですから、 「go to see you」は、会うために "家を出る" ことになるのです。つまり「何時に家を出ればいい？」と同じ意味になってしまうのです。 I come to see you. であれば、「会うために家を出る」のではなく、「会うために目的地へ行く（到着する）」となるのです。 ややこしいかもしれませんが、頑張ってください!!

単なる、うっかりだと思いますが、最初の文には主語がありませんヨ。 I を入れるのを。 そう、 What time should I come to see you? けど、なんかしっくりこない気が。 What time should I see you? What time should I go there? くらい短い文を使う事のほうが多いと思います。 会話では、もうすでにある程度の話が進んでいて、「そこに行くこと」「あなたにあうこと」は、了解ずみ。今は、この文で「何時に」を聞く事が目的ですから、先の文は不自然な気。 しかし、きっと和訳の宿題とかなんですよね、これ。すみません。

上の文については＃１・２さんが言われるとおりです。 下の文について 1時にそっちにつけばいいということ？ You mean I must be there at 1 o'clock? 今から１時間後？ One hour from now?

１．日本語の「行く」ということばには、goとcomeが同時に含まれていますから、「行く」＝「ｇｏ」「来る」＝「ｃｏｍｅ」と短絡的に覚えると間違ってしまいます。 目的地に向かうときgoで、相手に対して,そちらに行くときcomeを使います。 ２．これは、わかりません。

英語では 「こちらが行く」というよりも 「そちらに来る」と表現するのが普通だからです。 私は九州出身ですが、「すぐ行く」ことを「すぐ来る」と表現します。それが九州の掟なのです（笑）。 英語もそういうことで、相手の側を基準に発想するんですね。

基本中の基本のような文章なのですが、何か気になったので質問させていただきます。 先日留学中の友達に long time no see! how are you doing? とメールを送りました。そしたら返事が来てその文章の一部に、 i am great! what do you doing now? do you go to any country? と書いてありました。 …これを読んで私は最初、 what are you doing now? did you go to any country? と言いたかったのかな…その人は英語初心者なので間違いはよくあり、今回もそうかなと思ったのですが…。 特に二つ目の文章は何か引っかかってしまいます。（一般動詞doとかが苦手、よく分からないということもあるからかもしれません） 私も英語が完璧ではないのでなんとも言えませんが…この文章の文法はあっているのでしょうか？
