［ｓ］という表記の意味
Ninety-two percent of the plastic isn't microplastic[s] but is larger objects. この英文のmicroplasticなのですが、microplastic[s]と表記され［s］となって いるのはｓが在っても無くても良いという事なのでしょうか。 また、もしそうだったら、在るのと無いのとではどういう意味の違いが 出てきますか。 ーーー教えて下さい。ーーー

ネットで[microplastics]と検索すると意味が「マイクロプラスチック」 という事で載っていて[microplastic]の複数形とはなっていないくて [microplastics]は、[microplastic]の複数形ではないのかと思った次第です。 [microplastic]で検索すると[microplastics]が優先的に出て来ることから [microplastics]は、[microplastic]の複数形扱いにはならないのかと 思いどういうことかと疑問に思いました。

ネットで[microplastics]で意味を検索したらマイクロプラスチックという 意味で出てきます。あたかも一つの単語として扱われている様に感じるのですが［microplastics]は[microplastic]の複数形として扱う場合と [microplastics]で単数形というかこれで一つの単語として扱う場合とが あるという事でしょうか。質問をしたい内容がうまく表現出来なくて すいません。何とか質問内容が伝わればと思います。

そもそも編集者は、microplastic[s]と表記して何をうったえようとしたので しょうか。 あなた様の説明を拝見しているかぎり《microplastic》としようが《microplastics》 にしようが意味に大きな違いが出て来る様に思えません。 「巨大な浮遊式フェンスで回収 海洋プラごみ一掃作戦が始動」と題しての 記事のものですが、マイクロプラスチックが海に沢山あるという事だと思います。 microplastic[s]とするからややこしくなるのだと思います。 発言者が、『microplastic』としたのであれば修正する必要はなかったのでは ないでしょうか。

しばしば混乱することがあります。 英文の省略表記で、 He's ... とか It's ... とかといった表記があると思いますが、 He is / It is なのか、 He has / It has なのか。 「He has / It has」であるという認識なのですが、 100％常に？という点において疑問を持ってます。 前に「He is / It is」であるケースに出会った気がします。 さだかではないのですが。気のせいかもしれません。 あと、そのほかの代名詞でない名詞、たとえば mayor's といった場合は、 100％常に「mayor has」ではなくて所有の意（市長の）になるという認識で いいのでしょうか？ 以上、２点、代名詞'sと名詞'sのケースについて教えていただけますでしょうか。 （そもそも代名詞か名詞かで分けられるものかどうかも定かではないです。）

検索してよく見ると[microplastics]は、[microplastic]の複数形と なっていました。 https://ejje.weblio.jp/content/Microplastics 「plural of microplastic」と表記されていました。 《microplastics is ～～》となる事はないという事ですね。
