なぜ比較級か

　なぜolderと比較級になっているのでしょうか？ 　歳をとってた気力や性欲が衰えるのは、急に起こるのではなくて、漸進的なものです。 　文の後半の less という比較級に呼応して、「次第に、前より～になるにつれて、～も～になる」と、前半の older も比較級にしてあるのだと思います。
