和訳をお願いします

今和訳をしているのですが、何となくわかるけど、ちゃんとした和訳ができないでいて困っています。 この文を和訳してください。 IRAN'S reform movement was in full retreat on Monday as early results from the general election showed their hardline opponents recapturing the ciyntry's paliament. またこの文を文法的に解説して頂けるとありがたいです。 よろしくお願いいたします

asは理由を表しているでしょう。この文では革新運動が全面撤退した理由がas以下に続きます。 総選挙の速報によると強硬な反対派がciyntryの議会を奪還しつつあるため、イランの革新運動は月曜日に全面撤退した。

自分なりに訳出してみたのですがこれで良いでしょうか？ 総選挙からの初期の結果がイランの強行論者の相手から、国会の政権を取り戻したことを示したように、イランの革新運動は月曜日に全面撤退した。 どうでしょうか？asが微妙でわかりにくかったのですが・・・。
