NHKからの抜粋です The Liberal Democratic Party led by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and its coalition partner, Komeito, garnered 318 seats, one more than a two-thirds majority, in the 475-seat Lower House. 的確に対応する対応する日本語記事は見つけられなかったですが、与党が2/3を超える議席を確保した、意味はそうです。 ところで、"one more than a two-thirds majority"は直訳すると 2/3大多数を超える１ になりますが、何かの固定表現でしょうか。1 > 2/3=0.67なのは当然です。それともoneは代名詞の役割しょうか。だとするとseatsになるかと思いますが、そもそもoneがなくても良いと感じます。 程度の低い質問かと思うのですが、お願いします。

475*(2/3) = 316.666... 切り上げて 317 1 足して 318 ってことかな？

こんにちは。 これは英語というより算数の問題と考えてください。 one more than a two-thirds = 1 + 2/3 x 475 = 1 + 316.66 = 1+317 = 318 定数４７５議席の三分の２の３１７議席より１議席多い３１８議席 という意味です。 しかし、細かいところによく気が付きましたね。 自分は今までそういうとこは、わからなくても流してきたので、 目からうろこが落ちました。改めて考えさせられた質問でした。

うまく訳ができませんのでお願いします。 If eight hours of work is considered as one man day, the Indian rural women work more than two man days everyday both in home and farm together. この文で以下のように訳してみました。 もし、8時間労働が1日1人の男性として考えららるならば、インドの女性はきちんと家と農場の両方で毎日、2日2人以上働いています。 one man dayとtwo man dayがいまいちわかりません。
