In fact I like to read anything that can get me as far from reality as I can. 調べてみたところ、 (1)being thatでsinceやbecauseのように、理由を表す副詞節を導くという解説もありましたが、 副詞節なら、文末にピリオドがあるので、主節が存在せずおかしい気がします。 (2)これに対し、being that は分詞構文で、thatはa United States soldierを指すという考え方もあり得ると思います。こちらは節を導いているわけではないので、考え方としてはスッキリします。 両者も、意味は同じになりますが、構造（とらえ方）が違います。 どちらが正しいでしょうか？
