http://james.3zoku.com/shakespeare/lear/lear3.4.html シェークスピアのリア王ですね。 19世紀のビクトリア朝の英語でさえ理解はかなりむずかしいですから、エリザベス1世の時代の英語だと、細かいところはちんぷんかんぷんで当然だと思います。

有難うございました。よくわかりました。 ホームページでKing Lear Act 3 第三幕がよめたこと有難く、予想外の喜びです。 お陰様で江藤淳が「リアにとっては～人間とは、かくも醜悪を極めたものであった。～しかし、漱石は、おそらくこのトムと同様のボロをまとった「寒山拾得」に「笑而不答～」の趣以外のものを見ようとしない。」 のあたりが大分理解できたように思います。
