次の文は英語で何と言いますか？（映画館にて）
『もし私がアメリカの映画館にいるとして、席に座ろうと思った時、その席が空いてるかどうか、近くに座っている人に尋ねたいとき、何て言って尋ねることが出来ますか？』 If I were in a movie theater in the states, when I wanted to sit down a seat, but I didn't know the seat was already taken or not by anybody, how could I ask nearby person in such situation?

一般的な表現としては、「Excuse me, Is this seat taken?」ですね。「すみません、この椅子は誰かが座っていますか？」という感じ。 この場合、空いていれば、相手の返答は「No (this seat is not taken).」となります。英語に不慣れな人は、ＮｏといわれたらＯＫということを念頭においておかないと、逆の意味に取ってしまうかもしれませんね。もちろん、Ｙｅｓならば座れません。 特に米国では、椅子に座る、つまり占有することは「take」を使います。「どうぞお座りください」という意味で「Please sit down.」と言っても、米国人には「頼むからそこに座りなさい」というような、強制のニュアンスに受け取られてしまうこともあります。 この場合は、「Please take your seat.」と言うのがスマートだと思います。

一番簡単なのは席を指差しながら 「May I？」もしくは 「Can I？」 （座っていい？） もうちょっと丁寧なら May I sit here? （ここ座っていいですか？） もう少し丁寧に聞きたいなら Is this seat occupied? （誰か使ってます？） すごく丁寧に聞くなら Do you mind if I sit here? (ここ座ってもかまいませんか？） いずれの場合も私は尋ねる相手を見てExcuse meと言ってから続けます。

冷たい人なのかと思って,席を譲ってくれないかと聞いた I said "excuse me,Would you give me a seat?" to person who I regarded as a cold. say の用法が合っているか。 regard の目的語を先行詞personとして関係代名詞whoを使ったのですが問題ないか。 そもそもregard A as B で文脈的に正しいか。 など教えていただきたいです。 厳しくよろしくお願いいたします。
