your songの文法3
英語勉強の為にエルトンジョンのyour songを暗記したいと考えています。 そこで、文法も整理したいので、ご協力お願いします。 If I was a sculptor, but then again, no Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show このbut then again, noの意味、文型がよくわかりません。 特に5文型にならない文の使い方がわかりませんので、そのあたりの解説もしていただけると助かります。 （きっと、何かが省略されているんでしょうが・・・。）

Or If I was a man who makes potions in a travelling show, I would ~. もしくは、 If I was a sculptor or a man who makes potions in a travelling show, I would ~ の構文でI would ～は言わなくても分かるでしょう、か、自分で想像してみてとでもいっているのでしょう。 but then again, no http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/but-then-again but then again でもよく考えてみると、とはいうものの、しかしまた一方【参考】then again But then again maybe not. いや違うかな もし私が彫刻家であれば・・いや違うかな・・舞台で貴女をウットリとさせるような演技や歌を歌える男であれば、I would～をしてあげられるのに と言う挿入句の使い方があると理解すれば色々な英文で使えると思う。

No.2です。but then again, no.の部分にお答えするのを忘れてました。ごめんなさい。 but then again = but then でほとんど but と同じ意味です。 省略されている部分を散文調で書くとこんな感じになるでしょう。 If I was a sculptor, I would make a perfect sculpture of a woman--you're the model, of course. But then again, no, it's not possible for me. 「もし、ぼくが彫刻家だったら（君をモデルにすばらしい彫刻を作るんだけど）…でも、ぼくにはやっぱり無理だな」 ２行目は、お分かりとは思いますが If I was a man..., の「仮定法過去」です。意味は先ほどのＵＲＬをご参照ください。
