私程度の英語力では全然自信がないのですが…。 回答が付かないようなので恥を忍んで試訳してみます。 最も目につく層では、ナッシュビルの商業音楽は、その試され証明された労働階級の日々の栄光と悲劇の年代記によって、何百万もの人々を震撼させ続けている。 ナッシュビルは万人に妥当なものであるために、いま懸命に働いており、私たちは、近い将来そこから出てくるような、いかなる豚呼びコンテストの新録音もありえないだろうと考えている。 難しい文ですね。前後の脈絡がないとわからない部分もありますが 「ナッシュビルの音楽は多くの現代人に受け入れられるために―up to dateなものであろうとして―必死の模索を続けている」 といった文意に取れます。けっしてカントリーの衰退を言っているのではないと思いますが…？
