リンクではその英文をうまく見つけることができなかったのですが、ご質問文を読んだ限りでは、その訳のとおりです。ただし、それを「批判」ととるかどうかは解釈の問題だと思いますが。「なんらかの事情で出席できないのは残念だ」というつもりかもしれませんし、その文だけ判断するのは、やや性急です。 ＞首相が直接トムヨークに言ったという事なのでしょうか？？ そうです。厳密には「言った」のか「書き送った」のかは不明ですが、トム・ヨークともなると、国民どころか世界の人々に対して相当な影響力がありますから、頭のいい政治家は仲よくするわけです。

英文は、文章に動詞が１つと習いました。 以下の文章で動詞が３箇所使われていると思います。 英検準２の過去問の文章です。 She loves writing so much that her teacher thinks she will grow up to be an author . １つ目 She lovesのloves これはこの文章の中の主語に対する、動詞と判断しています。 ２つめ her teacher thinksのthinks これはso~thatで接続されているので、切られている文章と判断し動詞は使ってよいと判断しています。 ３つ目 she will grow up のglow これはどのように考えればよろしいのでしょうか？ そのあとのto beは不定詞なので動詞としては考えなくてよいと思っています。 全体と通して教えて頂けると嬉しいです。 すみませんが、よろしくおねがいいたします。

ご回答ありがとうございます！ すみません、リンク先で指定したのは、本文で実際に「will not be attending」の箇所に貼られていたもので、実際の本文は http://www.radiohead.com/deadairspace/ の【tue 30 NOVEMBER】の「COP 16」の下の方に書かれている文章でした。 何故直接？と思いましたが、なるほど政治家も近づいておきたいわけですね。。。 訳は一応合っていたようでご確認ありがとうございます!
