和訳を知りたし
こんちは。このコーナーステキです。前も英語の質問しました。今回もお願いします。さて WHEN ARE YOU GONNA LEARN?!とはどういった意味で。もちろん直訳は分かります。曲のタイトルでもあるし、映画でもいってました。その時のシチュエーションは主人公の男が、想ってる女にがっついてアタックしようとしてるのを見た女友達がこの台詞を吐いてました。たしか字幕は「ちょっと待って、なんであんたはそうなのよ！」みたいな。それでいいの？直接アメリカ人にも同じ説明してきいたことあるけど、あまりに的外れな答えが。それきり。どなたか！

日本語でもいいますよね、何度も同じようなことをする人に対して 「あなたって本当に学ばない人ね！」って。 直訳でも「あなたはいつ学ぶの？」ですよね。 日本語でも「ホント、いつまでも学ばない人ね～」っていう時って 「なんであなたはそうなのよー」ってことですよね？ それで、字幕になるとそういった訳になるわけです。

WHEN ARE YOU GONNA LEARN?! 「アンタはいつになったらわかるのよ？ もう！」 エクスクラメーションマークで、いらだちをあらわす訳にしたいですね。 あとはsituation次第なので、しつこくいいよっている、ということから 「いつになったらわかるの？」 「いつもいつもしつこいんじゃない？」 「なんであんたはそうなのよ！」ってなるんでしょうかね？ この訳はうまいなぁ。かないません。

そのときの状況によっても違うでしょうが、たぶん「いつになったらわかるのよ？」としか言えませんね。でも、これって直訳だし・・・自信ないですけど。

お世話になっております。 以下についてお教え頂けないでしょうか。 Put it back in the drawer when you are finished. (1)どうしてare finishedと、受け身になっているのでしょうか？ 直訳すると「あなたが終えられる」になる気がします。 (2)when you finishedのように、areを除くと、上記you are finishedと意味が異なるのでしょうか？ ご指導のほど何卒宜しくお願い申し上げます。
