ＳＷＡＴのトレーニングも教えていますので、この単語よく使います。
ramdom shooting(乱射する事)を良く使いますが、ramdom fire(乱射)という言い方で、名詞として使います。 つまり、調書への書き込みには、ramdom fireなり、random shotを使います。
これでいいでしょうか。 分からない点がありましたら、補足質問してください。

そうですね。
「fire indescriminately into the crowd」「spray bullets into the crowd」「pick people off randomly」とも言える。
この上をつかえば：
During lunch hour, the kid suddenly pulled out a gun and started firing indescrimately into the crowd.
At lunch break, the teen whipped out a pistol and started spraying the crowd with bullets.
考えると、「pick people off」は、sniperのイメージ浮かびますよね。ちょっと違う感じ。
