文構造を教えてください。
A woman cannot be a loving mother, the test of which is the willingness to bear separation- and even after the separation to go on loving. これは全体として、どういう構造になっているのですか？ the test of whichのところがよく分からずに困っています。 推測ですが、the test (of which) is the ・・・. the test＝Ｓ of which＝the testを修飾 which＝loving mother is＝動詞 となっているのでしょうか？ ただ、それだったらwhichではなくwhomかなとも思いました。 宜しくご教示願います。

the test＝Ｓ of which＝the testを修飾 which＝loving mother 惜しいです！whichは名詞を指すので、a から書くようにしましょう。 で、whomになるかということですが、この場合はwhichです。ここでいうa loving motherというのは、具体的にどうこうという人ではなくて、「人の性質」を代表的に表している人だからです。 わかりやすい例を挙げれば、金持ちになりたい人が「ビルゲイツみたいになりたいなぁ」と思うときは、whichです。ビルゲイツ本人になりたいのではなく、ビルゲイツみたいな金持ちになりたい、ということです。ビルゲイツの贅沢ぶりを見て（実際はどうか知りませんが）こいつと入れ替わりて～と思う人が「ビルゲイツになりてぇ～」と思うときはwhomです。 なんとなくはつかめたでしょうか？

the test of which～は、「愛情のある母親であるかどうかの試金石は～である」という意味です。

A woman cannot be a loving mother, the test of which is the willingness to bear separation- and even after the separation to go on loving. test とは直接「mother」を指すのではなく、「A woman cannot be a loving mother を判定するテスト、つまり test of whether or not a woman can be a loving mother（一人の女性が愛情溢れる母親になるか否かのテスト）」とだと考えるとツジツマが合いそうですが、いかがでしょう？ そうすると、whom ではなくて whichとなっているのも納得できます。 ご参考までに。

すみません、質問します。 以下の文の構造がわかりません。 The Second Amendment was approved in seventeen ninety-one. It says: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." 意味は、「憲法修正2条は1791年に認められた。その内容は、”よく制限された民兵は自由の防衛に必要なら、武器を生産し、保持する権利は侵害されない。”」 だと思うのですが、shall not be infringed の主語がわかりません。 the right of the people to keep and bear Arms,が主語ならコンマの意味がわかりませんし、A well regulated Militiaの述部がわかりません。よろしくお願いします。

１「we are inclined to look upon ourselves as the products of a growth from within, upon the unfolding of our personality as something that would have been the same on the Robinson Crusoe's manless island as it has been in the particular social environment of which we are a part.」 まず上の文について質問です。we～somethingまではわかるのですがsomethingにかかるthat～partまでの構造が全くわかりません。学校の先生は仮定法だと言っていたのですがifも見当たらないですし・・・。 ２「we can hardly be too often reminded, though it may be a well-known fact, that there was once a man named Socrates between whom and the legal authorities and public opinion of his time there took place a memorable collision.」 次に上の文についてなのですがこれは最初の方からほとんどわからない状態です。 最初は「私たちはほとんどよく思い出すことができることはない、それはよく知られている事実だけれど、昔ソクラテスという名前の男がいて～」でいいでしょうか？ その後はほとんどわかりません。 わからない点は ・between whom の後に何でandが来るのか？ ・thereは主語になるのか？ の二点です。 先生に聞けばいいのですが、授業が終わった後は行列ができていていつも聞けずに時間切れになってしまうので質問しました。 よろしくお願いします。
