この場合のa stake in ～は、 「～に対する利害関係」「関わり合い」という意味ですので、この点から解釈すると、ご質問のitはその前の文全体の意味である「～を支配することになる」を指しています。全体では、「その中には(=～を支配することの中には)、～に対する利害関係も含まれることになる。」という意味になります。

○　英文の中には、さりげなく仮定法が使われていることがあります。３つある「would」は、いずれも仮定法の帰結節を表します。条件節は「a combined company」です。 ○　「It」が指すのは、直前の「more than a third of the world's market」ではないかと思います。 ○　「(a stake) in ...」の目的語は、「the world’s largest copper mine」、「Australia’s largest underground mine」、 「resources including oil, natural gas, aluminum, diamonds, uranium, gold, nickel and silver around the world」の３つでしょう。 ○　訳 　「もし合併会社ができれば、BHPの株主が５６％を所有することになり、世界の鉄鉱石の市場（取引額）の３分の１を支配することになることだろう。そしてまた、その（合併会社の支配する、世界全体の３分の１の取引額の）中には、世界最大の銅山、オーストラリア最大の地下鉱山、世界中の・・・を含む資源などに対する出資金が含まれることになるであろう。

こんにちはgoogoo1956様 アルクで調べると aquire a 30 % stake in ～で　　　　～の３０％の株を有する だそうです。 A combined company, in which BHP shareholders would own about 56 percent, would control more than a third of the world’s iron-ore market. ここもin whichをin a combined companyとすると関係代名詞は BHP shareholders would own about 56 percent （stakes） in a combined company. と思われます。 次に主節に戻ると A combined company would control more than a third of the world’s iron-ore market. となります。 ＞「It」が指すのは、直前の「more than a third of the world's market」 ありがとうございました。 More than a third of the world’s iron-ore market 主語 would also include 動詞 a stake in the world’s largest copper mine, Australia’s largest underground mine and resources including oil, natural gas, aluminum, diamonds, uranium, gold, nickel and silver around the world.目的語 ですね。 ＃１さんのところでも書きましたが、A include BでA=BつまりAとBは同種のもの market取引額=a stake となるかと思いますが、アルクでa stakeは「権利」「株」、stakeで「利益」「出資額」「投資額」となっております。 いずれにせよmarket取引額=a stakeに不安が残ってはおります。 いつもこういう内容ですみません。またよろしくお願いします。

In earlier price negotiations, senior Chinese officials and diplomats have urged the Australian government to apply pressure on BHP to moderate its demands for better prices. という文です。ですから問題のitを指し示すものは見当たりません。 A combined company, in which BHP shareholders would own about 56 percent, would control more than a third of the world’s iron-ore market.
