DELL・WSの32bitXPインストール中エラーに関して
DELLのPrecisionT5400を、OSはXP64bitプリインストールで新規購入したのですが、諸事情によりXP32bit環境に変更したいと考えています。 しかし、手持ちのXP32bitライセンス(SP1)で試した結果、以下のようなエラーが出て止まってしまいました。 基本的にHDD×2およびDVD&CD×1がすべてSATAで接続されているという構成ですが、システムのHDのみXP64bitが入ったST3250824ASを新品のST3250410ASに入れ替えてインストールしたいと思っています。 ただ、HDを入れ替えていない初期構成状態でもこのエラーは発生しています。 DELLのサポートでも「32bitに入れ替えは可能」との回答を得ているのですが市販のXPライセンスではダメなのでしょうか。 あるいはYahooオークションなどで出回っているDELLのプリインストールモデルバックアップOSCDであれば可能でしょうか。 この手の問題に詳しい方、解決方法を手順を含めて教えていただけますと助かります。 よろしくお願いいたします。 以下、エラーメッセージです。 A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. 本体にFDDがあれば問題ありません。 ドライバはOSインストール時にセットアップする必要があり、 後からドライバを入れることは出来ません。 ドライバについてはインテルのサイトからダウンロードできるはずです。 なお、無効にしてインストールした場合はSATAのパフォーマンスが劣ります。

なるほど、一番最初にドライバ読み込みを行わないと、SATAモードでのドライブを使用することはできなくなってしまうのですね。 もう一度インストール作業を最初からやってみることにします。

使用機種のチップセット対応のS-ATAドライバをFDに書き込む方法が簡単だと思います。(参考URL) ただしFDDがなければ出来ませんのでその場合は他の方も書かれているとおりBIOSの設定を変更すればインストールは可能なはずです。

ありがとうございます。 このサイトは易しく書かれていて参考になります。 ただ、お恥ずかしい話なのですが、自分のマシンに関して、正確にどのドライバを調達して来ればいいのかわからないので困っています。 OSインストール後にDellから提供されているドライバは入れてみたのですが、再起動後にやはり例のエラーメッセージが出てリセットがかかってしまうのです。
単純に考えるならSATAの問題です BIOSの画面でIDEもしくはDisableを選択してはいかがでしょうか

ありがとうございます。 SATAを無効にしてATAで試したらインストールはできました！ ただ、SP2を当てて、チップセットドライバも入れたのですが、いまだにSATAを有効に戻すと、Windows起動画面がうっすらと出た次に、一瞬例のエラーメッセージが表示されて再起動がかかってしまいます。 FDDを使った再インストールをもう一度行ったほうがいいのでしょうか？
チップセットIntel 5400のICH-9R用ドライバがXPに入っていないからではないでしょうか？ フロッピーディスクにドライバを保存し、OSインストール時にセットアップする必要があるようです。 インテルのサイトに参考になりそうな情報がありましたので紹介します。

ありがとうございました。 該当ページでは「USBのFDDが必要」とある(本体にはFDDは付いていますが、これでもよかったのでしょうか？)のと、どのファイルをダウンロードしたらいいのかわからなかったので、結局SATAを無効にする方法で試してみました。 OSのインストールはでき、DELLの付属ドライバCDからチップセットドライバをインストールしたのですが、いまだにSATAを有効にすると起動できない状態なのです。
