Pitchについて
サッカーの試合後 Egypt players used all the pitch but NZ did not and they were not speedy. ここでのpitchはグランドですか？ エジプトの選手は上手くグランドを使っていたけどＮＺのほうは、ソウでなかったし、スピードも速くなかった。

もうご回答が出ていますが 少し補足をさせていただきます。 「ここでのpitchはグランドですか？」 はい そのとおりです。 イギリス英語です。 OXFORD には （also field) an area of ground specially prepared nd marked for playing a game such as football とあり （因みに soccer はアメリカ英語です。アメリカで football は アメフトを指します）サッカー クリケット ラグビーの試合に使うグラウンドのことを言います。

辞書では pitch....《英》〔スポーツ〕 （サッカー・ホッケーなどの）競技場の意.....とありますが、もうサッカーの実況放送などでは、ピッチというのはあの四角なフィールドのこととしてほとんど日本語みたいに使われていますよね。 つまり、日本ならこう言うでしょう「エジプトの選手たちはピッチ全体を有効に使ったが、ニュージーランドの選手はそうでもなかった、しかもプレーがスピーディさを欠いていた」 New College English-Japanese Dictionary, 6th edition (C) Kenkyusha Ltd.
