英作文で困っています^^;

英作文の場合、「順調」「育成」「適切」とか難しい言葉をそのまま訳そうとするとたいへんなので、もとの日本語のほうをまず少し平易に書き換えてやるといいのではないでしょうか。その方向で訳を考えてみました。 「米が順調に育成するためには適切な時期に雨が必要である。」 ＝「よく育つために、米は正しい時に雨を必要とする。」 To grow well, rice needs to have rain at the right time. 後半も、これに合わせて「rice」を主語にして押し切ります。 「適切でない時に雨が多過ぎたり少なすぎたりすると、収穫が少なくなるだろう。」 If it has too much or too little rain at the wrong time, it will give you a poor harvest. 一般的に成り立つ仮定ですから、仮定法にする必要はありません。最後の「it will give you a poor harvest」は「you will have a poor harvest」でもいいかもしれません。 易しい単語（よく知っている単語）をできるだけ使いこなせるようにすることは、英作文だけでなく会話でも役に立ちます。会話をしているときは辞書なんて引けませんからね。

原文にそって、かつ多少意訳をしました。 Timing of receiving precipitations is a necessary element to properly harvest rice. The yield of rice is affected by the timing of adequate precipitations that the rice field receives. 前文は推敲を重ねられている完成度の高い文章なので、（アメリカの）ニュースなどで一般的に使われる"precipitasions"を使いました。 二番目の文で"adequate"をここで使ったのは、多過ぎたり少な過ぎたりという表現を直訳すると長くなり過ぎて、前の文との調和が取れないと考えたからです。 また、２番目の文で強調したいのは、「時期」であり「量」ではないので、このような意訳は原文の大意を伝える為に必要かと思いました。 "precipitations" を"rain"に置き換える事もできます。 もし、意訳をしてはいけないのであれば、直訳をしてみます。 The yield of rice is expected to be decreased if the rice field receives more or less precipitations at the wrong time. どちらを（意訳の文・単語）選択するかは好みの問題です。

幾つかの訳し方が考えられます。 まず、 適切な時期の雨 : Rainfalls in proper priods 順調な米の生育 : fine/well/good growth of rice とまとまりを考えます。 作文は受動態で表す方法と、能動態で表す方法があります。 Rainfalls in proper priods are needed for fine growth of rice. or Rainfalls in proper priods are necessary[indispensable] for[to] fine growth of rice. 英語はどちらかというと能動態の方が好まれるため、私は後者の方が好みですね。 適切でないは、proper -> improper(appropriateでも同じinappropriateとする)と書けば表せますね。 Excess or lack of rainfalls in improper priods may cause the lower yield. 上記は一例です。makeを使っても書けますし、seeを使う方法もあります。 また、 are[may be] harmful to the lower yield. とすることも考えられますね。 ご参考まで。

For good growth of rice, rain is needed at a suitable season. 後半の「適切でない時に雨が多過ぎたり少なすぎたりすると」は、ちょっと日本語を変えないと英語になりませんね。 あと、別に仮定法は無理に使うことないと思いますよ。 In the case of excess or lack of rain at an appropriate season, a crop will be bad. 参考にしてください。

大学の二次試験で自由英作文があるのですがなかなかうまく行きません。添削をお願い致します。 テーマは、[携帯電話についてどう思うか]です。 In my opinion, cell phone was enabie us to do many things.Take an example.we can contact other people immediatly when we are late for appointmennt.And we can use it whereever we are.we need not find a public phone.In addition to, we can contact someone I want to talk wherever the person is.But contraryto their good sides,we have bad sides,too.For example,we often see someone calling on train or bus.And we often catch a phone at midnight suddenly.It is very rode and they think nothing but their conveniences.we understand such bose sides and should consider apt time and appropriate place when we use cell phone. 間違いが多いとは思いますが、どうかお願いします。

たびたびお世話になります。 英作文のテキストで、 １． 結果から見れば心配しなくってよかったが。 I need not, as it happened, have worried at all. 上記の文でasの用法がよくわかりません。 as=ように、とか、時、とか、しながら、では「結果から見れば」とはならないので、ここでのasの使い方が不明です。 ２． As soon as I had recovered from my illness, what must I do but break my leg? 訳はありません。 たぶん「やっと病気がなおったのに、すぐ足の骨を折るなんて」 という意味と思いますが、勘でなく文法的に読むととてもそうは読めません。わかりやすく解説していただけないでしょうか？ 恐縮ですが、よろしくお願いします。

If only＋仮定法過去 の文です。 If only it would not rain. 「雨が降ってさえいなければなぁ。」という意味だと載っていたのですが、 なぜwouldが入るのでしょうか。 wouldが入ったら、「雨が降りさえしなければいいのだが」のような意味にはなりませんか。

Please remain seated until the plane has come to a stop. と The man decideed to wait at the station until his wife came. という二つの文なんですが untilの後の V(動詞)の時制というか完了形にしたり過去形にする考え方を教えてください どうして 上の文は has cameという現在完了形になっているのかもわからないんです。 下の文の過去形にしているのも Whenのときなら たとえば もし明日雨が降ったらストップしますという文だと I will stop it when it rain tomorow. でrainが原型なのに

とても分かりやすいものを教えていただきありがとうございました。そうなんですよね、語句を調べる時にそのまま辞書で調べてしまうので見慣れない単語などがでてきてしまい、そこでどまどってしまうんです。これからは知っている単語を最大限に活用できるように勉強していきたいと思います。
