PENGUIN READERSの訳
PENGUIN READERSを学校の夏休みの課題で熟読してくるよう言われたのですが、途中分からない会話表現や多義の単語で悩んでいます。 PENGUIN READERSシリーズの翻訳書のようなものはありますか？ 課題として渡されたのは「THE BODY」という話で、 映画「STAND BY ME」の原作だそうです。 始めの一文は‘So what's this all about,Vern?'Teddy asked. 「PENGUIN READERSの翻訳」でなくとも、全く同じ文章の訳なら、 そちらでもかまわないので、あれば教えてください。 お願いします。

私も読んだことはないのですが、原作はスティーブン・キングです。 『スタンド・バイ・ミー』というタイトルで、新潮文庫から邦訳が出ているようですよ。 ただし、小説の翻訳は直訳とは違うので、日本人に理解しやすいように・日本語として通りやすいように訳すときにアレンジしてある部分があると思います。 なので、そのままサラっと読んでしまうのでなく、原文と比較しながら読んでみると良いでしょう。 http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/4102193057/250-5784457-6455402?v=glance&n=465392 http://www.isis.ne.jp/mnn/senya/senya0827.html

- Penguin Readersの映画スクリプトについて。
英語字幕の無いLove Actually(UK盤)を購入したので、この映画のfull screenplayを知りたくてamazonで探していたところ、同じ著者(Richard Curtis氏)の本を二つ見つけました。 一冊はLove Actually (Penguin Readers S.)という本で、もう一冊はLove Actually: Film Script。 二冊ともレビューに“映画スクリプト”と書かれていて、価格はPenguin Readersのほうがずっと安いのですが・・・Penguin Readersの映画のスクリプトがどんな内容なのか解らないので購入を躊躇っています。 他の映画のPenguin Readersをご存知の方の回答をお待ちしています。

人気ドラマの原作『Sex and the City』（Candece Bushnell著）を読んでいて、どうしてもわからないところがありました。わかる方教えてください。 まず文章は以下です。 I shoud have dropped the whole idea right then. I should'nt have listened to scarily horny Sallie Tisdale, who in her yuppie-porn book, Talk dirty to me, enthuses about public, group sex: "This is a taboo in the truest sense of the word....The center will not hold." I should have asked myself, What's fun about that? この文中の中ほどの「group sex」という部分が「，」で区切られていますが、これがどの前の文章につながるのかがわかりません。 しかも、なぜ、ここに「，」が入るのかがわからないのです。 わかった方教えてください。お願いします。
