こんにちは。 とりあえず、 辞書にもどって意味を見てみました。 すると、 『(3) ［進行形かそれ自体継続の意味を持つ動詞とともに肯定文で用いて］ 今（まだ）, 今なお, 依然として； （その当時）まだ （比較 この用法では still のほうが一般的だが, yet は感情が入る） She's talking yet. 彼女はまだおしゃべりしている. Much yet remains to be done. 今なおなすべきことがたくさんある. His hands were yet red with blood. 彼の手は（その時なお）依然として鮮血に染まっていた. New College English-Japanese Dictionary, 6th edition (C) Kenkyusha Ltd. 1967,1994,1998』 というのがコンテキストからも考えて一番しっくり来るのではないかと。（Knowは特別でない限り進行形にはならないので進行形の意味ももています。） 訳してみますと、（意訳） なんだか、オンリーの場所が変な気もしますが。。。 『宇宙の中で、今日までに存在がわかっている感覚のある生物は地球に住んでいる。』

以下の文について質問です。 The only living organisms we know are attached to the surface of that otherwise very ordinary planet,the earth. 訳：我々が知っている唯一の生物は、生物がいるという点を除けばごくふつうの惑星である地球の表面にしかいない。 文の構造やotherwizeの訳し方は判るのですが、このthatが文でどのような働きをしていて、 どの単語にかかっているのかが分かりません。 一見このthatがなくても成り立ちそうにも思えます。 また、このthatと同様の用法が解説してあるサイトもしくはweb辞書などがありましたら、 教えていただけると助かります。 どうぞよろしくお願いします。

Our planet is called the Earth. It is the only planet where we know that plants, animals, and people live. という文がありました。２文目の we know that の that は省略しないといけないのではないでしょうか？ He is the man who I thought was honest. のような文では、I thought that の that は省略されるはずです。これは、あとに was という動詞が来ているから省略なのでしょうか？ 後にSVが続いていたら、省略しなくていいのでしょうか？ また、最初の文のように関係代名詞ではなく、関係副詞のときは省略しなくてもいいのでしょうか？

英文なんですが 訳と文の中に入っている重要な熟語などありましたら教えてください。 I used to live in Tokyo; in fact, not so far from here ；がつき、その次に来るin fact のいみがわかりません。 私は東京にすんでいた。実際ここからそんなに遠くない なんか意味不明なんですが あと、「I'm only a child, yet I know we are all part of a family, five billion strong ---in fact, thirty million species strong---and borders and governments will never change that.」 これも意味が良くわかりません。 直訳に近い感じで訳をお願いします。
